We are writing from the Southend, Essex & Thurrock Transforming Care Partnership (TCP). We are developing a new service. Autism Outreach is part of the NHS Long Term Plan and National Strategy for autistic children, young people, and adults.
Throughout the country, many autistic people experience periods of poor mental health. Some have or will require support in a secure unit to support their mental health. This tells us that at times, the mental health needs of some autistic people may not be understood in the local community. Support can also be difficult to find and access in the local community.
Autism Outreach aims to help autistic people who are at risk of requiring support from a mental health hospital. The service will work to support them to live safely.
We want to hear the views of autistic children and young people, adults and their families/carers, who have experienced admission to hospital or received community support for their mental health, about the service, and have a list of questions we would like you to answer below.
Your views will help us to design and improve the service. We will let you know what happens. Any views or comments that fall outside the scope of this project will be acknowledged and feedback will be provided to you.
