Riverview charitable trust has been in existence for over ten years and in this time their focus has been in making a real difference to the community by providing essential services to those who require it. Over the last year Riverview have given out over 3,000 meals, helped over 400 individuals, and provided over 170 children with access to free services on a weekly basis.
With a team of 10 volunteers who support with, providing a nappy and foodbank resource, admin tasks, health and safety and many more tasks that go into making this an excellent place for the community to access. Currently they require extra volunteer support with their meal preparation, further details can be found on: https://www.volunteeressex.org/opportunities/kitchen-support-14195/ all volunteers will be offered training and support with expenses paid.
Riverview Charitable Trust nominated one of their great volunteers in the first Thurrock Volunteer Centre awards, hosted in Volunteers Week. Claire was nominated for and won the Volunteer Trustee award. Claire has been volunteering at Riverview for six years and begun as she wanted to support the local community, stating that the work Riverview does has a ripple effect meaning that it’s not just a small proportion being helped but the whole community. Claire states that she has used her previous administration skills to support in learning about the structure of a charity and business plans. By being involved with volunteering, Claire has said that she feels more positive and will undertake tasks that would have previously been out of her comfort zone, saying that previously she would have stayed in the background providing refreshments rather than engaging.
Achievements for Claire have included learning new things and making a positive difference to the community. Claire would recommend volunteering to others as a way of focusing outwards rather than inwards, developing as a person, having a purpose and supporting others with their endeavours. As Claire says and a quote we the Volunteer Centre wholeheartedly agree with “A little goes a long way and can make such a difference” Claire would also like to thank Tracey the CEO for her personal support and encouragement. Claire says Tracey leads by example with her vision and energy, which both are inspiring. When this is set alongside the amazing work that is undertaken and the difference it makes to people’s lives, it has caused Claire to become a more committed and involved volunteer. The volunteer centre thanks you Claire for the fabulous work that you are doing as a volunteer trustee for Riverview Charitable trust.
