Regional Championships Week 1 – Swimmers from Thurrock Swimming Club, who train at Blackshots Leisure Centre competed in the second weekend of the East Regional Championships.
Joshua Shepherd finished his championships off with a 1st in the 50 fly and 3rd in the 100 back – both best times. Henry Dean finished 3rd in the 50 fly final just outside of his best. Nikita Charykin finished 2nd in the 100 back with a best time and 3rd in the 200IM. James McGettigan swam a good 200IM finishing 3rd in the final, 5th in the 50 breast and 7th in the 50 fly final. Ben Minister achieved a best time in the 200 medley just missing out on the final and was just outside his best in the 100 back. Zak Walker was in amazing form finishing 2nd in the 50 breast and 100 fly and 4th in the 200 free. All huge PBs and just missing out on 1st place in all events. Ivan Ijomoni swam a great 1500 finishing 2nd with a huge PB. Ivan achieved another best time in the 200 IM finishing 7th in the finals and set a best time to make the 100 fly finial finishing 5th overall. Nicholas Mitroi also swam a brilliant 1500 finishing 8th overall and another huge best time in the 200 free. Danny Thompson finished 8th overall in the 1500 free. Freddie Gardner achieved a best time in the 100 back and just outside in the 50 fly. Elise Delapperall swam a great 50 fly achieving a huge PB. Ethan Martin completed in the 100 back and 50 fly but outside of his best times. Ayobami Akindele finished 6th in the final of the 50 breast and competed in the 50 fly. Jeremey Godwin swam just outside of his best in the 50 breast. Ose Ojiekhudu competed in the 50 fly and swam just outside of his best. Isabella Da Silva swum just outside of her best time in the 200 free. Kai Patel finished 5th in the 50 breast in a personal best time and was just outside of his best in the 200 IM. Will Minister set a huge PB in the 200 IM finishing 6th in the final. Lilly Franks swam a fantastic 100 fly just missing out on the final as did Riley Allen in the same event. Both set huge personal best times. Tyree Tudor was slightly outside of his best in the 100 fly. Isla Cotter achieved a best time in the 50 breast as di Arianna Tverijonas in the 200IM.
After the 2nd weekend, Thurrock were 6th in the medal table in the East Region
