Getting Involved with Your Local Community

Being involved in your local community has many benefits, personally and for your neighbourhood.  Helping to shape and taking part in what is going on around you can be motivated by lots of things.  Anyone and everyone can be involved.  It does not matter who you are, how old you are, what you believe in- you have skills, knowledge and you can contribute.  Some of things that you may get in return are:

  • Meeting new people
  • Improving your communication and language skills
  • Experiencing different cultures
  • Influencing change in your local area
  • Building confidence, self esteem and giving structure to life
  • Keeping your skills up to date
  • Building up contacts to help you find a paid job
  • Gain experience
  • Make a difference
  • Gain direction and structure

Volunteer Centre Thurrock – helping you become more involved in your community

Whether you are an individual, group or business, we can help you unlock both your and Thurrock’s potential.

Would you like more information about getting involved?

Contact the Volunteer Centre volunteercentre@thurrockcvs.org for more information and discuss the opportunities available.

This could be in the form of a Trustee of a local charity, structured volunteering within an office; supporting a local community hub – the list is endless.
