What is Alternative Movement?


At Alternative Movement we work with adaptive athletes to help them achieve their full potential, rather than looking at those with impairments and disabilities and what they can’t do, we explore the things they can. This may mean that just because one athlete cannot perform a deadlift in a conventional manner, we cannot expose them to the same stimulus but in an alternative way. Our aim was to create a truly inclusive space to train and educate others around disability fitness, and that’s exactly what we have done. 

Adaptive training, uses a method of constantly varied functional movements patterns performed at high intensity but in an unconventional way. 

Is this just for high level athletes? No, we refer to all of our community as Adaptive athletes. Whether you have just started training or you’re a paralympian, there is a space for you here. All levels welcome.
