BATIAS Independent Advocacy Service Claimed

supporting people with learning disabilities by empowering people to lead a full and active life that reflects personal choice

BATIAS Independent Advocacy Service was established in 1994 to provide advocacy for adults with learning disabilities who were leaving long stay hospitals. Over the past  26 years BATIAS has supported people with learning disabilities to have a voice. We work in partnership to deliver formal advocacy in Southend.

Formal advocacy is s where a trained advocate works with an individual to support them to understand choices leading to the person making an informed choice about their situation this is often when a person is going through a crisis.

We have also secured a number of different foundation grants to provide self advocacy groups to support people through education to develop life skills, communication and self advocacy skills which help them in daily life.
