Purfleet Heritage & Military Centre

A museum with a collection of over 15,000 artefacts of Purfleet-on-Thames local history and a large and varied military section, which incorporates the second largest Gurkha collection in the country. These artefacts are displayed inside a former Royal Gunpowder Magazine where gunpowder was stored for the Army & Navy during Britain’s period of growth as a naval power. Magazine No.5 is considered by Historic England a most outstanding example of a typically British type of magazine. This amazing collection is open to the public to enjoy.
