April saw the Volunteer Coordinator travel around Thurrock, holding volunteer promotion sessions at Aveley Hub, Belhus Library, Corringham Library, Harris academy ‘Futures’ event and the Reed family event. It was great to be able to promote the true value of volunteering and to demonstrate the diverse, flexible range of volunteering opportunities that the organisations in Thurrock have on offer.
“As the Volunteer Coordinator I was delighted to attend a presentation at TCHC – an educational setting in Grays, where I was asked to feedback on what had been researched and designed. Two groups of young people were asked to come up with an event, which would support attracting more young people into volunteering, alongside researching why young people can appear to be reluctant to volunteer. Both groups completed the task fully and the Volunteer Centre Thurrock, is looking forward to future collaborations with TCHC.
May looks to be just as busy and I hope to be in the community more. If you have any suggestions on groups or places to visit to promote volunteering please let me know. As a reminder, we are looking for expression of interests from those of you who would like to volunteer at the upcoming Big Lunches in Thurrock as well as Thurrock’s first Pride event. Please contact me on volunteercentre@thurrockcvs.org for further information and details.”
