April’s Let’s Talk online session was held with colleagues from the Voluntary & Community sector, with a focus on volunteers and Volunteers Week (3rd -9th June).
Joanne, TCVS Volunteer Coordinator, shared information about her plans in Volunteers Week, which includes lots of promotion and events, including a recruitment fair, community outreach, celebration events and more. Attendees shared their plans on how they were thanking their volunteers during Volunteers Week which included events, personal letters of thanks, certificates and more. Jo also spoke about her work in supporting the recruitment and retention of volunteers, and that she is working with colleagues from the sector with a view of sharing best practice and seeking more variety in opportunities formal and informal, including volunteers for events such as Pride, Big Lunch, Big help Out etc. A volunteers newsletter has also been launched.
Jacqui, Manager of Volunteer Centre Thurrock, provided an update on some of the current TCVS projects, including digital skills and the upcoming Thurrock Community Fund which will be launching in June. She also spoke about the forthcoming trainings sessions in May.
The Let’s Talk sessions provide an opportunity for Thurrock groups and organisations to come together and network. It enables you to showcase your service/offer, share experiences, discuss good-practice, learn from others and build stronger relationships within the sector.
