Swimmers from Thurrock Swimming Club participated in this years British and English Summer Championships.
Training alongside Impulse Leisure, Blackshots Leisure Centre, the best swimmers in the country.
Joshua Shepherd had a great English & British Championships. Josh won the 50m back final with a huge, best time. In the 100 back, Josh set a life time best to make the English final. Josh then took another 2 secs off of his heat time to finish 2nd overall. He also equalled his best in the 100 free. In the British Champs, Josh finished 4th in the 50m fly final and 5th in the 100 fly. Joshua also competed in the 200 fly and all three races were personal best times.
Henry Dean achieved a season best time in the 50 fly and fractionally outside of his best in the 100 fly.
Nikita Charykin achieved a best time in the heats of the 100 back to make the 18+ English final. In the final, Nikita once again improved on his heat swim with a faster time and finished 6th. He also swam a good 200 back at the British Championships.
James McGettigan competing in his first British Championships in the 50, 100 & 200 breast and just missed out on a final position in the 50 2.12.18. At the English Championships, James also competed in the 200 medley.
In the English Championships, Zak Walker missed out on the 100 breast final by 1/100th of a second but then set a PB in the 200 breaststroke to make the 13 year old final. Straight after, Zak achieved another PB in the 100 fly missing out on the final by 3/10ths. In the final of the 200 breast, Zak finish a credible 10th. Zak set another best time in the 100 free and 200 fly and competed in the 200 free.
Louise Webster, swimming at her first national championships swam well in the heats to make the national final in the 200 fly. In the final, Louise improved her position finishing 9th.
Ben Minister swam a great 200 back and 400medley in the English Championships.
Ivan Ijomono swimming in his first national championships, achieved a best time in the 400IM and another great swim in the 100 fly in a personal best time. Ivan also swam just outside of his best time in the 200 fly.
Kai Patel, also swimming in his first national championships, achieved a PB in the 200 breast finishing 7th overall in his age group.
