Community Builders
(Helen Sefa, Richard Bonsu and Kim Vasa)
We will be out and about in Thurrock helping communities to have a voice in their local area and to take part in local decisions. We will be meeting with local groups and residents helping you access opportunities like healthy activities, training and local community funding. Our roles will also be to share information and put you in touch with a local group for support or social interaction. A very important part of the role is also to reconnect people to each other and we will be building on the Our Road campaign to encourage kindness and neighbourly help as we saw during the Coronavirus lockdown.
Food network coordinator
(Jaymie-Lee Tapsell)
During the Coronavirus lockdown, there was enormous community spirit and motivation to provide everyone with basic food supplies. A wealth of businesses, community groups and individuals came forward to help each other. My role is to try and continue this community effort by working to identify and create a network of food distribution across Thurrock.
My goals would be to ensure we have a zero-waste food community and a co-ordinated approach so wherever there is a food shortage this is addressed and where there is too much, it is diverted to those that need it. I will be working across Thurrock in this new role and working with community groups, supermarkets and businesses, so if you would like to participate and become part of this new network, drop me a line.
