Our Community Builder Eira, recently organised ‘Dish out the Decs’, a Christmas appeal collecting unwanted Christmas decorations that could be donated back into the community to vulnerable residents and groups in Thurrock to help spread some Christmas cheer. T.M.A in Tilbury were one of the recipients to receive decorations for use at their recent Christmas event. T.M.A supports children, young people, and families with SEND in a way which extends beyond their inclusive and educational sessions and which instil confidence and encourage learning through play.
Following adjustments to the numbers attending their event, the group noticed there was a significant amount of surplus items already purchased and wished for another charity to benefit from this generosity also.
Following their event T.M.A donated the food and surplus children’s gifts to essential organisations and vulnerable individuals including Thurrock Foodbank, St Luke’s Hospice, and the Fire Service. The decorations were also left in the hall for use by another local charity later in the month.
All parties in receipt of donations expressed their deepest thanks not just for the items but also for the fact that members of the community had thought about them this Christmas.
