Swimmers from Thurrock Swimming Club attended the first weekend of this years Regional Championships. 35 swimmers from Thurrock Swimming Club who train at Blackshots Leisure Centre qualified for this high quality championships.
Joshua Shepherd had a great weekend finishing 1st in the 50 back, 100 fly & 200 fly. In the 100 free, Josh finished 6th and 3rd in the 50 free. Henry Dean swam a great 100 fly finishing 1st in the regional final and just outside of his PB in the 50 free. Nikita Charykin finished 1st in the 200 back and swam a season’s best finishing 6th in the 100 fly. James McGettigan finished 2nd in the 200 breast 4th in the 100 breast and achieved a best time in the 100 fly. Ivan Ijomoni swam a 30 sec PB in the 800 free finishing 7th overall. Danny Thompson swam a good 800 finishing just outside of his best finishing 7th. In the 400IM, Danny achieved a personal best time and was just outside of his best in the 200 back and 400 free. Louise Webster swam well in the 200 fly final finishing 7th and just outside of her best in the 100 fly. Ben Minister swam a very good race in the 400IM finishing 5th and th in the 200 back final. Nicholas Mitroi swam well in the 800 free. Tobi Olajide swam well in the 100 fly and set a PB in the 50 free & 200 fly. Kevin Moghina swam a strong 100 freestyle and set a PB in the 50 free. Freddie Gardner made his first regional final finishing 7th in the 50 back with a PB and a string 100 free and another best time in the 50 free. Ethan Martin swam very well in the 50 free finishing 6th in the final and just outside of his best in the 100 free and 50 back. Jeremey Godwin swam just outside of his best in the 100 breast. Ayobami Akindele achieved a personal best time in the 50 free & 100 breast. Ademola Ashowole swam to a best time in the 50 free.
In the 17+ mens freestyle relay, Ethan Martin, Henry Dean, Freddie Gardner and Nikita Charykin finished 3rd overall. In the medley relay, Ben Minister replaced Ethan and the team finished in 3rd place again with some great splits. In the 14-16 age group, Kevin Moghina, Ademola Oshowole, James McGettigan and Joshua Shepherd finished 6th in the region. In the medley team, Tobi Olajide replaced Ademola and finished 7 overall.
