Four swimmers from Thurrock Swimming Club participated in this year’s National Inter County Team Championships held in Sheffield. Henry Dean, Nikita Charykin, Joshua Shepherd and Kai Patel, who all train at Blackshots Leisure Centre in Grays, represented Essex against all of the other counties in the Country.
Essex were swimming in Division 1 so the Thurrock swimmers were competing against the best in the country.
Henry Dean competing in the 16 and 17 year age group swam a huge best time to finish 2nd overall in the 100 fly. Nikita Charykin also achieved a 1 second best time in the 100 back finishing 7th in the same category.
Joshua Shepherd competed in the 14 and 15 year age group. In the 100 fly, Joshua achieved a huge pb and finished second overall. In the 100 back, Joshua also achieved another best time finishing 13th.
Kai Patel competed in the 12 and 13 year old 200 medley team and swam a best time on the split in the 50m breaststroke.
Essex finished 5th overall, their highest position and the Thurrock swimmers were fundamental to the teams success.
