Thurrock CVS, with the support from other partners, recently held a Cost of Living Marketplace event at the Beehive Resource Centre.
Many residents who attended were seeking information, advice and support on areas such as housing, benefits, finance, utilities, community support, benefits and much more. There were many freebies available on the day, such as free coats, warm clothing and blankets, hot water bottles to take away, as well as refreshments, mince pies and homemade soup and ingredients.
People gathered to chat and share their stories, and emotions were high for some, however knowing support was available by the agencies and groups present made all the difference. This was the first Cost of Living event held to support residents and we received fantastic feedback on the day from attendees and stall holders, with many requesting more of these type of events.
A massive thank you to all who helped to make the day a success, including stall holders and staff support from Thurrock CVS, Thurrock Council and Thurrock Foodbank.
A big thank you also to the businesses and organisations who generously donated to the event to help make it such a great success, these include:
Balfour Beatty and Lower Thames Crossing
Asda
The Sycamores and Broome Place complexes in Aveley and Thurrock Council staff
Center Parcs
Ikea
Well Homes
Thurrock Foodbank
The Cost of Living crisis is scary for many people, but additional support can be found on Stronger Together.
